About Humboldt Herbals
Humboldt Herbals is dedicated to finding the most vibrant and healing herbal remedies available. It began as a mail order catalog in the Pacific Northwest in 1998. A retail store in Old Town Eureka, California soon followed in 2001. Humboldt Herbals is a full-service herbal apothecary, stocking over 400 organic and ethically wildcrafted medicinal herbs, teas and spices. Our highly skilled herbalists offer each customer personalized guidance and support in selecting the most appropriate herbal remedies. Our selection includes organic tea blends, aromatherapy, flower/vibrational essences, tinctures, salves, oils, organic body care and more. You can also find everything you need to make your own herbal medicines and body care products at home.
Humboldt Herbals specializes in organic handmade herbal products, and we never put anything “on the shelf” that we haven’t tried ourselves. You can always be certain that our herbs are the highest quality available, and that the products we sell really work.

Julie Caldwell
Julie Caldwell, MA, is the creator of Humboldt Herbals and an ever-continuing student of medicinal plants and the healing arts. She teaches a variety of herbal classes and workshops, and frequently leads medicinal plant walks along Humboldt County's breathtaking trails. Lauren Ballard
Lauren Ballard is a certified herbalist, gardener and medicine maker. She’s a graduate of the Northwest School for Botanical Studies, and has been practicing herbal medicine for 9 years. She’s a partner at I & I organic herb, fruit and vegetable farm in Dows Prarie, California, and can be found selling her gorgeous vegetables and herbs at the local farmer's markets. She’s also a talented wildcrafter and makes outstanding fresh herbal extracts.
Candice Brunlinger
Candice Brunlinger has studied herbal medicine with Christa Sinadinos through the Northwest School of Botanical Studies, completing the Professional and Clinical Herbalist Training Programs and the Advanced Materia Medica course. She has also had the honor of briefly studying with many other herbalist through small workshops and classes. She graduated Humboldt State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and is creating her own holistic herbal product line. Candice teaches Herbal and Qi Gong workshops in the community as well as the Intro to Herbalism Course at Humboldt State University. Candice is inspired by plants and integrating a holistic lifestyle. She loves to make medicine, cook, garden, be in nature, practice Tai Chi and teach herbal workshops.
Kendra Cross
Kendra Cross is an herbalist, an entrepreneur and an intuitive artist with essential oils and plants. She loves to study and share both the powerful and subtle ways that plants can be incorporated into ones life to heal the body, mind, spirit, and emotion. Kendra is a certified herbalist through Dandelion Herbal Center and has her BA from Humboldt State University. She is a local yoga instructor, musician, dancer and teacher. Kendra is an eternal student of ancient and contemporary healing techniques and looks forward to offering her healing services and herbal creations, Essence of the Goddess*, to the community in the near future.
Jen Knight
Jen Knight is an Herbalist, Usui Reiki Master Teacher, and Shaman. She has been practicing herbal
medicine for over 15 years, and is a lifelong student of the plant world. One of her greatest passions is
helping connect people to the plants they need to help ease what ails them. She received her B.S.E.S. in
Ecology from Unity College in Maine, and has studied with herbalists from Maine to California. She
teaches classes in herbalism and reiki throughout the community, and offers alternative healing
consultations by appointment. When not performing healing arts she can be found communing with the
Ancient Redwoods, surfing the beautiful Pacific Coast, practicing yoga, and backpacking the incredible

Marea Zendran
Marea is a Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist, Herbalist and Nutrition Counselor. She graduated from the California College of Ayurveda where she learned to assess the individual needs of a person based on their constitution, lifestyle and nutritional needs. She is a lifelong student of herbalism, nutrition and yoga. She has worked diligently to understand the ability of the human body to heal itself, as well as learning to understand the healing properties of the fascinating world of herbal medicine. She recognizes that this is a lifelong journey and commitment, and is fascinated, on a daily basis, by the medicinal gifts that the plants have to offer. She offers private consultations by appointment. She is a musician, a dedicated yoga student, works on a part-time basis with special education children, and feels blessed to be on the staff at Humboldt Herbals, to share in the wisdom of an incredible collective of dedicated and knowledgeable herbalists.
Selena Rowan
Selena trained with Christa Sinadinos at the Northwest School for Botanical Studies, with Traci Webb and Karta Purkh Singh Khalsa at the Northwest Institute of Ayurveda, and is now apprenticing with Greta de la Montagne, AHG, of the MASHH Clinic Collective (Medicine for All Seeking Health and Healing, a collaborative effort of herbalists from Portland to San Francisco - http://mashhclinic.wordpress.com). She had the pleasure of learning organic farming practices for several seasons with Janet Czarnecki of Redwood Roots Farm. She earned a B.S. in Biology at Humboldt State University. She teaches botany and medicine making at the NWSBS and NWIA where her love of Latin shines brightly. Selena also works as the pharmacy manager at Alpine Meadow Botanicals. Her special love for herbal first aid manifests in her role as a Staff Practitioner for the Wellness Crew at the Northern California Women’s Herbal Symposium.
